We are pleased to welcome you to the Loose Park Homes Association (LPHA)
LOOSE PARK HOMES ON FACEBOOK: LooseParkHomes
NEIGHBORHOOD ON NEXTDOOR: Sunset Hill
EXTERNAL CONTACT EMAIL: LooseParkHomes@gmail.com
Loose Park Homes Association represents the fifty-seven homes bounded by 52nd Street to the north, 55th Street to the south, Summit Street and Loose Park to the east and Belleview Avenue to the west. In addition, neighbors on the other side of the boundary streets with less active Neighborhood Associations are invited to join Loose Park Homes Association as non-voting “Associate” members, with access to security services, social events and other benefits.
Members pay $225 in dues ($200 for associate members) each fiscal year (May 1-April 30) which in turn pay for private security, snow plowing services, social events, and other services to the community.
Board members serve on a volunteer basis and meet quarterly. The Association has one annual meeting, typically in the summer, and, when not in a pandemic, several social events throughout the year.
LPHA primarily communicates via an email list. The list is for the exclusive use of members and is not to be used for advertising, political, sales or social activities other than those specifically related to the association. We never sell or share information.
Email Board Secretary Kenn Boyle to update your information, including names of adult family members, phone numbers and email addresses.
Waste
Each house can put out two trash bags (up to 40 pounds each) each week and unlimited recycling bins. Additional garbage bag tags can be purchased for $2.50 at Price Chopper and Westlake Ace Hardware locations in the city.
Trash Day is Friday; put out garbage by 7am
The city offers unlimited ecycling in city-labeled bins. Bins can be purchased for $9.00 at Westlake Ace Hardware and Price Chopper locations. The City accepts paper, cardboard, plastric #3-7, foil, and milk cartons. The City doesn’t take glass, bags or styrofoam..
Recycling Day is also Friday
The City does not take glass recycling or compost but for a small fee, there are several vendors who will pick up both. These include Glass Bandit, Atlas Glass, Urbavore Urban Farm and Compost Collective KC. You can also drop-off glass at Ripple Glass drop off locations.
Glass Recycling and Compost
Twice a year, the city designates days to pick up yard waste, in bags and bundles, for curbside pickup. The City also offers a free drop-off leaf and brush option.
If there is a Monday or mid-week holiday, trash pickup will shift to Saturday.
Free bulky Item pickup is available if you pre-schedule online.
Twice a year (the week after the 4th of July and the week after Christmas), the city offers trash amnesty for up to 12 bags without tags.

Services
Security:
LPHA contracts private security services though Metro Public Safety Investigations. This service includes, among other things, patrol coverage and 24-hour dispatch response, coordination with KCMO PD and LPHA officers during emergencies, Board and resident notification of security issues, out-of-town residence checks (requires signed form from owner), armed officers with Class A licenses though KCMO PD, body cams, and in-vehicle cameras.
In case of an emergency, call 911…
…and then contact Metro dispatch at 816-809-9600

Snow Plowing
While the City provides snow plowing services, our interior streets are low priority. We contract with a service to plow the snow for any event over 2” of snow. For large events, they may plow twice.
Dumpster Day
Started in 2020, Dumpster Day is an annual event. The association pays for a city-provided dumpster to be dropped off in the community to accept excess garbage, bulky items and other trash. Future Dumpster Days will include optios like paper and electronics shredding, donation tructs and a canned food drive
Events
LPHA hosts several social events throughout the year for the neighborhood (when there is not a pandemic going on). These events include:
Block Party: Each summer, one of the interior blocks hosts a block party with a bounce house, fire truck, great food and good company.
Holiday Party: In the winter, the association hosts an evening Holiday Party at the home of a gracious neighborhood host. Gather together, meet with neighbors and spread some good cheer on a dark night.
Movie Night: New in 2020, the neighborhood outdoor movie night (one in the spring and one in the fall) involves a big screen, BYO chairs and adult beverages, and LPHA-sponsored popcorn, candy and drinks for the kids.
Other Events and Loose Park Events: Additional events for the neighborhood occur ad hoc as the opportunity arises – and there are often events in the Park as well – so sign up for emails to make sure you are getting the latest information and updates.
*Associate members can pay dues for access to security contract, social events and other services.
